The NRPC has been getting queries about a new Facebook page and associated website called "Settle Nortel Now", as well as an opinion piece in the Toronto Star along the same lines. Members are asked to view more information under Members Only / News & Newsletters / News Items.
The "Settle Nortel Now" campaign seems to be based on the premise that Nortel pensioners have received an offer to settle their claims at 55% and that this offer will be adjudicated on October 28, 2015.
Neither the NRPC legal committee, nor your court representatives, nor KM are aware of such offer or of any court hearing on October 28, 2015.
The reality is that after the Canadian and US Judges rendered their decisions on May 12th 2015 on how to unlock the global lockbox, various US interests have lodged appeals that have further delayed any progress on this case.
This "Settle Nortel Now" campaign is neither sponsored nor endorsed by the NPRC. At this point, we do not know who is behind the campaign or their motivation. We would caution providing your email contact information to that site. The best source for accurate information and actions remains Koskie Minsky and the NRPC.
