Before and during the recent Webinar on Member Profile Information Mailings, we received many questions about the Nortel insolvency process which were mostly answered in the Webinar. As the questions and responses may be of interest to many of you who were not able to participate in the Webinar, we have placed them on our web site. Please go to Members Only / Documents / English Documents / Koskie Minsky & Webcasts to read NRPC WebinarFAQ1_4mar13.

Tax slips were mailed out by the Monitor, Ernst & Young, today to those who received payments from Nortel in 2012 in respect of various sources of income in 2012.
Please note that Northern Trust, the custodian of the registered pension plans in January 2012 and February 2012, sent tax slips a couple of weeks ago and there were a number of incorrect addresses. The custodian of the pension plan from March 2012 to December 2012, CIBC Mellon, will also be sending their tax slips shortly. If you have not received your tax slip for your payments or it went to the wrong address and you were still able to pick it up, please make sure that Morneau Shepell, the administrator of the registered pension plan, has your correct address. Please contact Morneau directly by calling:

Several questions have been raised about the T4A slips which have recently been received by many Nortel pensioners which appear to cover only a portion of 2012 pension income.
In March of last year, Morneau Shepell changed custodian from Northern Trust to CIBC Mellon for the Nortel Pension Plans.
Therefore, all Canadian pensioners will receive two T4A slips for 2012.: one from Northern Trust for the January and February payments (already sent out) and a second from CIBC Mellon for the March to December payments. CIBC Mellon will have their T4s in the mail before then end of February.

On Jan 24th, Judge Winkler declared that the mediation had ended without a settlement. See the NRPC media release under Public News / Media News.
Don
Sproule, President of the NRPC spoke out. "For four years, our
retirees and former employees have been fighting for a fair share of
the pie. We have been treated as pawns in this game by vulture bond
funds. We will continue the battle. Canadian pensioners and disabled
employees have already taken their hit financially with the cutback
of pensions and loss of long-term disability income, as well as all
other medical and insurance. Nortel pensioners in the USA and UK have
suffered no such cutbacks.
