The Nortel Retirees and Former Employees Protection Committee (NRPC) was formed in early 2009 by a group of concerned former Nortel employees. Our primary goal is to restore and protect the value of Nortel's Defined Benefit Pension, health care, life insurance and termination benefits.
Our strategy is to communicate effectively and in a timely way with the Media in order to inform and win the support of the Canadian public regarding our situation and our objectives. Our messages must be congruent with those being delivered to Canadian politicians by the NRPC Political Action Committee(s) so that our politicians understand what we want and fully believe that their constituents support us as well.
Our media activities will include writing letters and articles for publication in newspapers, giving radio and TV interviews and making public presentations when suitable opportunities present themselves. We want to develop professional relationships with journalists so that they see us as important sources of reliable information and convey our points of view accurately.
Every NRPC member should consider getting involved to the extent of their abilities and understanding of the issues. The PAC materials *on the members web site are an excellent starting point. There are also some media materials below which have been developed to help members with certain themes, plus some sample documents:
